What’s in the bags?

Detailed packing lists for Nick and Sarah.

So while we’ll be gone for 6 months, and we obviously have to be somewhat selective in what we decide to bring, I would not consider thisone of those standard blog posts titled “How We Packed All Of Our Possessions In One Backpack To Last Us 6 Months” kind of thing.

The way we looked at it, is that our flights to Chile allow us to bring the following bags without any additional fees:

  • 1 Carry-on Bag
  • 1 Personal Item
  • 2 Checked Bags

Therefore, we are each bringing our WMP-branded backpacks as our Personal items, and our personal roller-bags as our Carry-on Bags. We are also each checking our approximate 35-38L hiking backpacks, and two duffelbags. All in all, we have 8 bags.

As for contents to these bags, we detail below. Our goal was to bring what we hoped/wanted to enjoy the experience, but without overpacking and not having room for anything else. That being said, we did receive packing cubes and plastic compression bags to help maximize space. All in all, we probably overpacked, but we’re cool with it.
